• You look at your calendar and it says "May" on it (unless someone is playing an April Fool joke on you and it is in fact April)

• All the decent telly programmes have ended until about October

• As a result of the above you start panicking at the amount of free time you need to fill up

• Daily reports on slight knocks to members of International Tournament Finals players in even numbered years

• The sudden interest in the Division Three playoffs due to a lack of other competitive football for a few weeks at least

• Every student town in the country becoming deserted

• The tall one and the short one are ripping the piss for hours waiting to get on with the next bit of the challenge
